For anyone who is eyelash extension-obsessed, making them last longer is a must. At Luxe Lashes London, we want all you lash lovers to be confident in your eyelash extension aftercare and so we are sharing 5 top tips that will help you maintain your eyelash extensions, ensuring they stay Luxe for longer.

      1. KEEP THEM CLEAN

Fortunately, water is not one of the things that needs to be avoided with eyelash extensions, as once they are properly cured, they become relatively waterproof. Many assume that as the aftercare advice requests that you steer clear of getting your eyelash extensions wet in the first 24 hours of having them applied, this means do not get them wet, ever. However, this is not the case, as you will need to get them wet regularly to enable proper cleansing. There are a number of problems that can arise from improper cleansing, this includes your eyelash extensions not lasting as long as they should.

The most effective way to clean your eyelash extensions is to use an eyelash extension friendly cleanser. At Luxe Lashes London, we provide a number of aftercare products, including a Lash Foaming Cleanser & Cleansing Brush Set. This set is specially designed for deep eyelash cleansing, encouraging essential hygiene and conditioning of the eye area, whilst avoiding interference with eyelash extension bonds. Alternatively, you may use an oil and glycol-free make up remover. Here are instructions to cleaning your eyelash extensions, step by step:

Remove all eye make up using the cleansers recommended above. If removing eyeliner, dip a cotton bud in the cleanser and wipe across or away from your eyelid and never towards your eyelash extensions. Avoid using cotton balls, as they could catch on your extensions.

Use cool water to wet your eyelashes. Dispense a small amount of cleanser and lather it up in the palm of your hand before applying it to your eye area, one eye at a time. Ensure your eyes are closed and ever so gently massage the cleanser over your eyelashes using the Lash Cleansing Brush or your finger.

Rinse the cleanser off with cool water and dab your eyelashes dry.

Take your wand and gently brush your eyelashes to separate them. Twirl through your eyelashes, then fan them back out.

Please note:

For the best results, follow these steps 2- 3 times a week and if you wear a lot of make up, cleanse daily. It's important that you do not clean your eyelash extensions within the first 24 hours of having them applied, as mentioned in the Luxe Lashes London Aftercare Advice.

    2. AVOID OIL BASED PRODUCTS

Oil-based products are unfortunately the enemy of eyelash extensions as they attack all eyelash adhesives, so it is essential that you are aware that many creams and cosmetics contain oil. When selecting or using products on your face and eye area, ensure they are labeled oil-free. Additionally, if you fail to wash your eyelash extensions, natural oils will build up and slowly start eating away at the eyelash adhesive. The less oil on your eyelash extensions, the more they will last.

    3. WEAR NO MASCARA (OR VERY LITTLE)

The beauty of eyelash extensions is that they give you longer and fuller lashes without the need for mascara. However, we know that some of you still want to wear mascara, even if only occasionally. It is highly recommended you use a mascara that is formulated for eyelash extensions. Although, when is comes to extending the life of them, it is miles better to avoid mascara altogether. If you decide to wear normal mascara this should be water-based, not to be confused with waterproof mascara. Lastly, try to use one coat and apply it to the tips of your eyelash extensions.

    4. SLEEP ON YOUR BACK

This tip will come as bad news to some of you stomach-sleepers. Sleeping with your face down to the pillow is likely to cause some eyelash extension loss so if you can, try to sleep on your back. This way, they will be untouched as you snooze.

    5. ARRANGE REGULAR INFILLS

All of the tips mentioned above are key to caring for your eyelash extensions but this is the most important! Maintaining regular infill appointments every 2-3 weeks will have your eyelashes looking their very best. The longer you wait to have your infills carried out, the harder it is for your Lash Expert to keep your lashes appearing full and flawless. Also, waiting too long to get your infill may lead to you requiring a full set instead. With that being said, we advise that Luxe Lashes London clients book their appointments in advance to avoid disappointment.

So there you have it! Following these top tips will have you thriving in your eyelash extension aftercare.

When clients request semi-permanent eyelash extensions, they often opt for a full set before anything else. Well here is a few things you may not have known about half set lashes and reasons why you should give them half a chance...

Semi-permanent eyelash extensions (also referred to as individual lashes) has become a popular choice of beauty treatment these days, whilst the types of lashes on the market are growing considerably. With a selection of silk, mink and volume lashes, in a variety of lengths, thicknesses and even colours, there really is a style of lash for everyone.

Most leading salons offer a full set, half set or infill lash extensions as standard. A full set is often the most sought after and includes full coverage application, whereas an infill is simply the process of a touch-up once a number of lashes has fallen out and new extensions are added where natural lash growth has occurred. With a half set of lashes, you can expect to have half the lashes of a full set but this doesn't necessarily mean the treatment will result in half the impact!

A half set is an alternative to a full set and achieves a similar effect using a lesser amount of lashes. They can be applied to make natural lashes appear thicker or by adding length to the outer edge lashes for a more noticeable look.

If it's your first time getting semi-permanent eyelash extensions and you're unsure of the fullness or style of lashes that would suit you best, a half set is a great place to start, giving you a chance to get used to them as adding or removing lashes are easier. With half the lashes comes other great benefits such as a half the application time of a full set, which can usually take up to two hours, giving you more time to get those other essential treatments in. Last but not least, half set lashes are of course the economical choice of long-lasting lashes, costing a fair amount less than a full set.

So there you have it, a half set is a great introduction to semi-permanent lashes. They're easily adapted, less time consuming and less costly, but definitely not half bad!

With a growing number of DIY Lash Lift kits appearing on the market, we feel its important to highlight the benefits of having this treatment performed by a professional.

When carrying out a Lash Lift treatment yourself, the likelihood of a serious incident is exceptionally high, particularly since it involves using substances around the tender eye area. Therefore, we are obliged to educate our clients on the potential dangers of DIY Lash Lifts and the benefits of a professional performing the treatment.

At Luxe Lashes London, the personal health and well-being of our clients are at the forefront of our lash and brow beauty service. As a result, safety procedures are a mandatory part of all treatments, and are always carried out in line with the guidance from the accredited training body.

      CONSULTATION AND PATCH TEST

For a Lash Lift, clients are invited to have a full consultation prior to undergoing the treatment. During the consultation, they will have the opportunity to talk privately with a Luxe Lash Expect to discuss their requirements and ask any questions they may have. Additionally, a quick and simple patch test will be carried out to determine if the client has any allergies to the products involved.

      CLIENT RECORDS AND HISTORY

A record is kept and maintained for each client to ensure that we have relevant and up to date details on any medical history and all recent past treatments that may affect the client when having the Lash Lift.

      QUALITY PRODUCTS

The correct use of products and high quality products are essential to the outcome of the Lash Lift treatment and are applied in line with training guidance.

      AFTERCARE

Another crucial aspect of the Lash Lift is aftercare advice, as clients should be aware of what they are expected to do and not do following the Lash Lift to enable long-lasting results. This is shared in person with the client and a downloadable Aftercare Card is available on our website.

All in all, the points raised above may seem a little excessive for a simple beauty treatment. However, the upmost care should always be taken when performing a Lash Lift.
